Upendra ..
I was a huge fan of this movie, and the actor and director too. I am still a fan of this movie and today I experience what happens at the climax of this movie. I assume most know the story line of this movie.. This movie ends with a catch phrase 'this is a 2-d movie, watch it twice'. I had got the whole meaning the first time. Many hadnt (including teju), it stuck to him a few days later...
I was ahead of the curve, cos I always think of life, one's purpsoe in life and the ultimate truth.
the ultimate truth is not the gita, or the koran, or the bible. these are just the master recitals to tame a lot of ignorant ppl. The ultimate truth is 'Self', the concept of advaita, you are the supreme and hence worship yourself. This is indeed true. You live, enjoy and die only for you. All the actions you carry out is to satisfy yourself. And this is the plain truth. Some follow the altruistic way and some the non-altruistic way. Teju had once told that there are no self-less people in this world, and the I seconded that and the word should not exist too. On second thoughts there might be some self-less people, at the very bottom of the society, who almost work, and live like machines or animals. (who dont have the ability to think)
Having no self-less people in the world, there is no altruism (which includes are kinds of good things kindness, mercy etc etc). Accroding to dictionary, Altruism is selfless concern for the welfare of others. It is a traditional virtue in many cultures, and central to many religious traditions. In English, this idea was often described as the Golden rule of ethics. In Buddhism it is considered a fundamental property of human nature. Some newer philosophies such as egoism have criticized the concept, with writers such as Nietzsche arguing that there is no moral obligation to help others
But the ultimate truth is u follow it because you love it, u enjoy it and u r satisfying your need to be happy by being altruistic.
Back to Upendra. here Uppi defines Naanu - every person's basic needs in 3 terms love, glory and responsibility in the names of ruchi, keerti and chintamani who are 3 good looking heroines. And he wants all the 3 of them. He love ruchi, lusts keerti and is sympathetic to chintamani. The 3 indeed like Naanu very much and are caring about him in their own way, but naanu sees a flaw in each of them, which is shown by each of them not liking the other. Towards the end these 3 conspire to kill naanu , as its the only solution to have exclusive control on naanu. Naanu discovering his fate of destruction fights his will to escape ruchi, keerti and chintamani.
But the end shows that the 3 coming back and engulfing him again.
This is life.. A mad mad quest of love, glory, happniess and accomplishment...
which goes on till your on the death bed ..
adios
a new low has hit ..
